15. November 2025
14:00 - 15:30
GMK-Fachgruppe Global Media Literacy
Beschreibung:
The workshop will introduce two international projects:
Part one:
TADAM: How to get experts in media education to co-create and challenge each other on the issues of AI and information
with Bérénice Vanneste, European project manager at Média Animation ASBL, Belgium; project coordinator at TADAM, an associate partner of IAME – International Association for Media Education
The workshop will offer the opportunity to discover the Tadam project (Tools and Awareness about Disinformation, Algorithms and Medias – www.tadam.education), and its achievements. Over a two-year period, media educators, researchers and journalists from all around Europe met to discuss the challenges of AI in relation to information, both from the point of view of information production and public reception, including issues of trust and ethics. The TADAM project concluded with an international co-creation event: a Media Edukathon. How can an audience with expertise in media education be encouraged to co-produce educational resources in collaboration with international peers and by combining different perspectives? The workshop will present the methodology implemented during the Media Edukathon and the key stages that challenged the experts. The workshop will offer to revisit one or more of these stages and will present excerpts from the main results: the most innovative theme, the most original method, teamwork, critical thinking, how to use creativity, etc. The aim is to inform and inspire participants to test the resources and activities presented in order to address the impact of AI and algorithms throughout the information process.
Part two:
Media Literacy practices with resilience
with Maria Leonida, Film Director and Director of Karpos, Centre for Media Education, Greece
Digital media and smartphones brought flexibility, speed and connectivity in media literacy practices. They also boosted transdisciplinary possibilities. AI is now redirecting us to raise again questions about credibility, search methods and a new creativity.
However, technological development is not the only factor which can assist a wider media literacy and a critical attitude. We still need to reach a variety of audiences, with higher or lower language skills and of different age groups and have a direct impact on them.
The workshop draws on experience in both formal and non formal contexts in schools and refugee camps. Working with groups standing at the borders of what would be a mainstream learning condition, has offered a chance to evaluate, compare and “sharpen” media educational practices.
A presentation will visualise the above through examples while a short practical session will involve a structured activity to open discussion.
